 Since 1162 the Knights of the Johanniter Order possessed an estate in the town of Adenau. This estate was situated next to the Catholic church of St. John the Baptist. Part of the estate, the commandery (Komturei), does still exist.
The route extends over a length of 36 km and leads you from Nürburg over Kottenheim to Adenau and over the Hohe Acht (the highest elevation in the Eifel region) back to Nürburg.
